The Immortals. These beings, as their name suggests, are incapable of aging past the time of their quickening, (i.e the first time they die), and are unable to be killed unless by decapitation. Any wounds that they receive are healed within 36 hours of the time that they received them at. Broken bones take slightly longer, like 48 hours depending on the bone that's broken. The injury sustained dictates the time it will take to heal, i.e a paper cut almost instantly, This does not mean that they don't feel pain. Though they heal abnormally fast, they still feel pain as much as the next person. If a immortal loses a limb, such as a arm, the immortal in question will not regrow that arm, simply grow over the wound that the missing limb creates. If the missing limb is surgically reattached, then the arm with heal itself back onto the body. And scars from previous wounds before their quickening, will remain on a Immortals body for the rest of their lives. These are not the only powers that the immortals posses. The senses, strength and speed of a immortal are all enhanced compared to a normal human. This does not mean that these attributes become superhuman. It just means that their ability to see, hear, taste, feel, and touch is sharpened, and their speed and strength is enhanced to the point of a Olympic runner, and a Olympic weight lifter. As well as being stronger, the immortals have also developed the ability to control their minds. This means that they are able to communicate with others through their thoughts, and read the thoughts responded back to them. This ability is very basic and at times is hard to control, most immortals taking over hundreds of years to master this simple ability. Some immortals have reached beyond the limits of this ability and can actually move objects about. Last but not least, there are a rare few immortals that actually posses abilities far greater than those of previous immortals, such as being able to generate fire from their bodies. There have been a few legends that circulate the immortal community about those immortals that are able to control and generate the elements. So now your asking the big question; how does one become immortal? Well, no one knows. Immortals are just the way they are, just like the way that birds can fly and fish can swim. They are born just like other children and grow up like other children. There is some gene inside of them, that if it isn't triggered by their 60th birthday, will never be triggered. And the way to trigger it? By dying. Between the ages of 18-60, these pre-immortals enter a stage known as the awakening. During this time, if the pre-immortal dies, then they undergo the quickening, the process in which the immortal gene is activated and the body heals itself and transforms the human into a immortal. A full immortal can sense a pre-immortal and help them through their quickening if they so wish. If you wish to be a pre-immortal, then mention so in your bio, and PM CEE if you want your character to die at some point. So, how do we spot Immortals? The differences between humans and immortals is very small. Despite the fact that most immortals seem slightly attractive to humans, the only thing that can separate them is their eyes. A Immortals iris is a strange thing. With a black pupil, the iris of a immortal sometimes seems to shift through the color spectrum of two primary colors, aka black to the lightest blue, to the darkest silver and back to black. Sometimes, it also seems like the iris has a metallic shine to it as well. A added side note; As their healing rate is faster than a humans, their metabolism is faster as well meaning that they burn off calories and alcohol like no bodies business. What this means, is a Immortal cannot get drunk. As Immortals are powerful, we are going to have a limited number of them. We don't want 35 immortals running around with only one human to deal with all of them. So, if you wish to be a immortal, the staff are going to be harder on your bio than if it were just a human. As the site grows, more immortal positions will be added on.
