It's 1977, and nothing is the same. A storm is coming, thick with violence and laced with hatred. The warning signs are already here, but few are paying attention. A disappearance here, a murder there; it's a completely different world. No one can explain what's happening to their perfect little lives, so no one wants to. No one wants to interrupt their own personal happiness to deal with the misery of others. Just ignore it, and it will go away.
But it won't. Not this time. This is larger than anyone could imagine, than anyone knows. This wave of violence is the precursor for the one thing everyone wants to avoid: war. Most muggles are completely unaware of the rising tensions, passing the warning signs off as a rampant crime wave. However, no one in the wizarding community can turn a blind eye to the electricity filling the streets. Voldemort is recruiting left and right, gaining more followers and loyal Death Eaters in droves. The Ministry is trying to maintain peace, and refuses to acknowledge the presence of a threat. But some wizards demand justice. Some are fighting back. They've joined together as the Order of the Phoenix, and they won't rest until the threat is gone.
Not even Hogwarts is safe from this seemingly inevitable clash of power. Many of the students have not returned this year, instead going into hiding with the rest of their family, trying to escape the genocide that looms so ominously near. The students that have returned are taking sides. But things are looking more serious than ever as the violence of the world outside Hogwarts continues to escalate at an alarming rate, and things begin to get nasty inside the school itself. The Death Eaters are searching each other out and banding together against other students who refuse to join them. Muggle born students are attacked, poisoned sweets and booby-trapped halls are pitfalls that the students constantly have to avoid.
Hushed whispers rush through the halls with a fervent urgency as each new rumor begins. Another faculty member has turned to Voldemort. Another family has disappeared. Another student injured. Another attack. The apprehension in the school is rising to a new extreme, and everyone fears the day that it reaches its climax. The carefree happiness of a few months ago is forgotten, and all anyone can do is cling to the hope that they'll
